The Right Fit

Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. (ΣΛΒ) is a Latino-based multicultural social fraternity that was founded in 1986. Our unique brotherhood is built upon the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, Community Service, and Cultural Awareness. As an organization we value fairness, opportunity, equality, and justice for all people regardless of their race, culture, socio-economic status, or ethnicity.

Academics

Sigma Lambda Beta recruits brothers throughout the entire academic year and our membership education process occurs every Fall and Spring semester.

Loyola Marymount University and Sigma Lambda Beta require that all prospective members have completed 12 graded academic units and earned a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to join the organization.

Spring first-time, first-year students and transfer students are eligible to participate in spring recruitment. 

Membership Education Process

Sigma Lambda Beta conducts membership intake via our membership education program.  The length of the membership education process will last an average of four (4) to six (6) weeks dependent upon Fraternity and Student Life requirements, academic courses, holidays, and scheduling.

We take great pride in our membership education program. Through our membership education program you will be taught the history, mission and values of Sigma Lambda Beta. Through this course you will build the leadership, time management, and communication skills needed to be successful at LMU and beyond the bluff. It is through this process that you will start building the bonds of brotherhood that unite our international network of brothers.

Financial Commitment

Our chapter dues per semester are the lowest of any other fraternal organization at Loyola Marymount University. We believe that great things can be accomplished with sound fiscal policy. Accordingly, our chapter and national dues amount to $186 per semester.

Rather than charge our members a great deal of money to be part of our organization, we establish multiple fundraisers throughout the academic year to off-set our low membership dues.

Additionally, our generous Beta Beta Alumni Association sponsor membership dues for any brother who receives a 3.5 semester grade point average.
